My memory is far from perfect, but this particular event is imprinted in it very clearly and I am sure the date is correct. In my turn I question your memory. In my recollection "Museum of Stalin's presents" was in Pushkin Museum. I am not sure if the whole building was given to the "presents", may be a part of it, but it was there in the Valkhonka Street.

The difference is 15 years as I was born in 1946. Stalin's presents were moved from Pushkin Museum to the Museum of Revolution in 53 after Stalin died. Opening of the Museum of Stalin's Presents in Pushkin Museum happened in 49 as a part of 70th Stalin's anniversary celebration.
